Beaver Riding Ostrich Mosaic

This goofy beaver riding ostrich comes straight from one of Pittsburgh’s most delightfully quirky pieces of public art! It's also another one of our if-you-know-you-know offbeat Pittsburgh landmarks.

Part of the Animal Adventure Mosaic by Pittsburgh artists Laura Jean McLaughlin and Bob Ziller, this scene lives on a jersey barrier along One Wild Place—the winding road into Highland Park from the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. Designed as part of a public art project involving over 1,000 local kids through Citipark’s Roving Art Cart, this mural is a true community creation.
